Cheryl

Cheryl loves nature, hiking and gardening, and saw volunteering with CCF as something that combined all her interests.

In Spring 2022, after her husband and she moved to the Cape full-time, Cheryl was looking for a volunteer opportunity to become more involved with and give back to the community. She saw a notice in the Cape Cod Chronicle that CCF was looking for volunteers. Cheryl loves nature, hiking and gardening, and saw volunteering with CCF as something that combined all her interests.

She is most interested in the land stewardship aspects of CCF’s work, so she participates regularly with Julie’s weekly restoration projects and with the Mini-Meadow on Main gardening. In addition, she is the land monitor for a large assemblage of properties, which she visits twice a year to examine the condition of the land.

Over the winter she enjoyed getting to know CCF more and continuing her commitment by researching the land use history of Strong Island, which she turned into a hiking guide for CCF tour leaders. She also created a baseline presentation that CCF uses when we present to community organizations.

CCF is so much richer for Cheryl’s volunteer efforts.
